We planned to take an overnight trip to Brighton last Tuesday, and left on the 11am lock, had a nice sail to Beachy Head, although gusty. As we approached the Head we could see white horses ahead of us, and the wind strength increased to 22 knot gusts. The direction was westerly so once around the ‘corner’ would have been on the nose. We looked at each other and said “Nah, let’s turn back!”. Decided we didn’t fancy three hours of beating against the wind and waves. We had a lovely sail back across the bay sheltered by Beachy Head! So instead of going out for a meal in Brighton, we went into Eastbourne instead.
