Hurkur was lifted, de-masted and put in the shed last Wendesday 22nd March, ready to have her hull treated and anti-fouled. Our copper bottom has come to the end of its life (almost 9 years) and we are reverting back to normal anti-foul. We also need to have the rigging changed as it is very old so decided as the mast was down to go ahead with that. Hurkur is now tented up having heat blasted at her to dry out before a few blisters are treated, then any more that may crop up Eddie will be able to treat in future years. It’s been a rush for Eddie having to get everything done in 10 days instead of the usual 4-6 weeks, and renewing the cables in the mast is proving a challenge! Back in the water (fingers crossed) on Friday 31st March, then we will have to set to on the decks – cleaning and painting. We are hoping to get away on our cruise mid to late April – more on that later….
