We’ve been back from our summer cruise now for a couple of weeks. Spent the time round the Solent just meandering round the Premier Marinas and the Isle of Wight, visited a couple of new places – Ryde and Littlehampton on the way back. Ryde is a small drying harbour and is surrounded with vast sands when the tide goes out, which it does, a long, long way! I think we were almost the biggest boat there, and when we sat on the mud the pontoon was so far down, we could hardly get off the boat! We put a stool down, then sat on the side and lowered ourselves down, could have done with a ladder. Whilst on the Isle of Wight, we took advantage of our bus passes (a novelty for me!) and visited a few places, including Bembridge and Sandown, which was fun. Also spent some time in Chichester Marina, which we always enjoy, and met up with some friends, and made new ones.
Although we had a good time away (about six weeks) we missed going ‘abroad’ and will probably cross the channel again next year to France, Belgium and Holland (again!).
